Hypnosis in Coaching: Deep Transformation Beyond Thought
Hypnosis is like a short journey inward. You are awake, but your focus is entirely inward — on your thoughts, feelings, and images. It feels a bit like daydreaming on purpose. You let go without losing control. It's a state of deep trust in which your inner experience speaks louder than the world around you.
What hypnosis is not: It's not magic, it's not manipulation, it's not a "blackout." You're not being controlled remotely, and you won't do anything you don't want to do. Many myths come from movies or stage shows — they have little to do with real hypnosis. In truth, it can help you understand yourself better, let go of fears, and gain new strength.
Hypnosis is not a trick – it is an invitation to rediscover yourself.
How do I use it?
In my work, hypnosis is not a foreign state — but a gentle, mindful path to greater clarity, self-connection, and inner balance.
I integrate hypnosis as a powerful element in my coaching to anchor change processes not only rationally, but also emotionally and subconsciously. In individually tailored sessions, I guide you into a focused state in which new perspectives can emerge. I often use personalized metaphorical journeys that make your inner experience vivid and tangible – deeply moving, sometimes surprising, and always effective.
As a relaxation exercise, hypnosis helps you let go of everyday life, regulate stress, and recharge. Or we can create a dream journey together—a loving retreat within yourself where you can recharge, connect, and unwind.
Transparency is particularly important to me: I discuss exactly what to expect in advance and answer all questions openly and understandably. My work is guided by the ethical principles of the German Association for Hypnosis – respectful, responsible, and clear in approach.
Every journey is unique. Just like you.
What drives people to make the first step
Gain better understanding of hypnosis
What can hypnosis achieve?
Hypnosis can release blockages, strengthen self-esteem, reconcile inner parts, or activate new possibilities for action. It is particularly effective in issues that are difficult to access through thought alone – gentle, profound, and lasting.
What happens after the session?
Hypnosis often has lasting effects for days or weeks — like an inner nudge that continues to move. I like to provide small tasks or symbols to help integrate the change. After a few days, a brief discussion is possible if you have questions or want to explore further.
What if I experience unpleasant feelings or memories?
In hypnosis, only what you are willing to see will show up — your unconscious protects you. As a facilitator, I hold the space mindfully, resource-oriented, and with clear boundaries. You are not alone.
Can you manipulate someone in a trance?
No. Hypnosis is a state of deep concentration and inner calm — not loss of control. You remain fully conscious the entire time, can speak, make decisions, and interrupt the process at any time.
What does hypnosis feel like?
The experience varies from person to person — clients often describe it as deeply relaxed, connected, clear, or pleasantly detached. Some experience a feeling of "floating", others a soothing grounding. And some barely notice a difference — yet are still deeply immersed.
What if I don't enter a trance?
Hypnosis is a natural state that most people easily reach — similar to daydreaming. It doesn't require "functioning", just a willingness to listen within. Even skeptical or "too cerebral" people often benefit greatly.
“Hypnosis is mind control.”
No one can be forced to do anything under hypnosis that goes against their will or values. You remain conscious and in control at all times.
“Hypnosis is just sleep.”
Even if it appears calm on the outside, hypnosis is not sleep. More active patterns can be seen in the brain, indicating focus and heightened receptivity.
“Only gullible or weak people can be hypnotized.”
Hypnotizability is neither related to intelligence nor naiveté. What matters is imagination, concentration, and openness.
“Hypnosis is something magical or mystical.”
Hypnosis is a psychological state, not magic. It's based on targeted communication and concentration — no magic wands needed.
“Hypnosis is not scientifically proven.”
Hypnosis is well researched and is used clinically effectively, for example for pain, anxiety or even as an adjunct to surgery.
“You lose control and do embarrassing things.”
This image is from stage hypnosis. In hypno-coaching, clients always remain in control and can end the session at any time.
“Hypnosis improves memory like a camera.”
Hypnosis can increase confidence in memories, but not necessarily their accuracy. False memories are possible if not handled carefully.
“Hypnosis is dangerous or harmful.”
In the hands of trained professionals, hypnosis is extremely safe. Risks arise almost exclusively from improper use or from use by laypeople.
